Sport psychology is the study of how thoughts, emotions, and behaviours influence performance in sport and exercise. A sport psychologist helps athletes, coaches, teams, and performers develop the mental skills needed to improve performance, overcome challenges, and maintain wellbeing.
Using evidence-based techniques, sport psychology supports people in reaching their potential both in training and in competition.

Many athletes spend hours developing their physical and technical abilities, but mental performance is just as important. The way you think, feel, and respond under pressure has a significant impact on your performance.
A sport psychologist helps you identify the mental barriers that may be limiting your performance and teaches practical strategies to overcome them. This may include improving confidence, managing performance anxiety, increasing concentration, developing positive self-talk, setting effective goals, and creating consistent performance routines.
By strengthening your mental skills, you can perform more consistently, recover more quickly from setbacks, and maximise your potential in training and competition.

High-performing teams rely on more than technical ability. Effective communication, trust, leadership, teamwork, and a shared purpose all contribute to consistent success.
Sport psychology helps teams develop these psychological foundations by improving communication, strengthening team cohesion, building effective leadership, managing conflict, and creating a positive environment.
Teams can also benefit from strategies that improve resilience, decision-making under pressure, motivation, and collective confidence. Whether working with youth teams, amateur clubs, or elite organisations, sport psychology helps create an environment where individuals and teams can consistently perform at their best.

One-to-one Sessions
Every sport psychology session is tailored to your individual needs, goals, and sporting environment. During your free initial consultation, I will take time to understand your background, current challenges, and what you would like to achieve. Together, we will identify the psychological factors influencing your performance and develop a plan to support your progress.
Follow-up sessions focus on building practical mental skills that you can apply in training and competition. These skills will depend on your goals identified in the initial consultation.
Sessions are collaborative, confidential, and evidence based. You'll leave with practical strategies and exercises to apply between sessions, helping you build lasting mental performance skills that support consistent improvement over time.
Team / Group Workshops
Team workshops are designed to address the psychological factors that influence collective performance. Before the workshop, we'll discuss your team's objectives and any challenges you're experiencing so the content can be tailored to your players, coaches, and environment.
Workshops are interactive and engaging, combining evidence-based psychological principles with practical activities, discussion, and real-world application. Topics may include communication, team cohesion, leadership, confidence, resilience, managing pressure, motivation, role clarity, or creating a positive performance culture.
The aim is to provide practical strategies that individuals and the team can immediately implement in training and competition. Workshops can be delivered as standalone sessions or as part of an ongoing performance development programme.
Observations
Observation sessions allow a sport psychologist to see athletes, coaches, or teams performing in their usual training or competition environment. Observing behaviours, communication, decision-making, and interactions in real time provides valuable insights that may not emerge during a consultation alone.
Following the observation, you'll receive personalised feedback highlighting strengths, areas for development, and practical recommendations to enhance performance.
Feedback may focus on individual mental skills, coaching behaviours, communication, leadership, team dynamics, or responses to pressure, depending on the purpose of the observation.
Observation sessions are often used alongside one-to-one sport psychology support or team workshops, helping ensure that psychological strategies are relevant, practical, and embedded within your sporting environment.
